When books or notebooks are available electronically, eternal preservation and widespread readership are possible. We regularly work with libraries, archives, and county records to scan all types of books, including delicate historical books and oversize books that require special handling. Our book scanning technicians know that keeping the original integrity of your books is important and we take special care to digitally convert the contents without damaging the physical book.
California Book Scanning Service with Binding Preservation
For this service, our book scanning service technicians use a flatbed scanner and carefully flip each page and scan the pages into a digital format of your choice. The original book is returned to you in the same manner as you delivered it to us.
California Book Scanning Service with Binding Destruction
This is an affordable option when you no longer need the book. Our book scanning service technicians carefully remove the binding of the book to create a ream of clean paper. From there, the paper is loaded into an automatic document feeder to scan the book at a high speed.

California Book Conversion Solution
Digital ReeL Overview
Digital ReeL is a complete California book scanning solution that’s ideal for any organization seeking to digitally convert hard copy records from oversize books. Our conversion solutions provide for scanning of your physical books into a digital format, completed at one of our secure facilities. The Digital ReeL book scanning solution creates a virtual replica of your original hard copy material.
We offer an easy-to-use web-based viewer that simply requires an internet connection. The great thing for you and your team is that there is no change when it comes to search and retrieval of records. Access is exactly the same as it is now so that your users retain the familiarity of the original material but with the ease of digital technology. The only difference is that you are now leveraging a modern application instead of handling the physical books.
Even better, Digital ReeL combines full-text searching capabilities with the utilization of your existing indexing methodology (e.g. book/page, case number) to enable users to quickly find information. Even multiple indexing methodologies can be accommodated. If you can’t find it with your existing index, no problem. Use full-text search to locate a record with a last name, street name, ID #, and so on- any word you want.
Cloud Hosting and Installed Options
- Hosted, Software as a Service: Many organizations are working hard to eliminate on-site infrastructure expenses and leverage cloud whenever it makes sense. With this option, we’ll host your digital records at our two data centers. Your users then log into the Digital ReeL viewer through the web. They can easily search and retrieve needed records.
- On-site: A classic approach that still makes sense for many organizations. After we scan books, we’ll deliver the digital archive to your IT department. We then work to implement our Digital ReeL application on your infrastructure. Your digital records are then stored and managed as part of your own IT systems and processes. Your employees (and perhaps citizens or customers) then access your digital book archive from secure workstations.
Digital ReeL is the Practical Solution for Your Legacy Records
- Easily Retrieve Records from Digital ReeL: use the same index you use in your physical archive (e.g. book/page, grantor/grantee, case number); full-text search included to really unlock the archive for users.
- Adjustable Grayscale Image Enhancement: fine-tune the quality of difficult-to-read images; even images that are impossible to read on your physical books may be brought back to life with this feature.
- Affordable California Book Scanning Solution: Digital ReeL has been designed with an affordable price point for infrequently accessed records.
