Sunnyvale, California – December 20, 2023

BMI proudly announces that Richard Gee is its newest Security Officer, taking on the role of leading its efforts in data and security protection. Since joining BMI in 2013, Richard has been instrumental in fortifying its digital and physical security landscapes, leveraging his extensive IT background and a suite of professional certifications, including CISSP and Security+.

Richard’s approach to security is deeply rooted in his comprehensive understanding of network systems, honed through years of experience in IT and network management. His academic qualifications in Industrial and Systems Engineering and Aeronautics–combined with his experience in Computer Integrated Manufacturing, retail distribution, software, and cloud services–have equipped him with a unique perspective in identifying and addressing potential security vulnerabilities.

In the Security Officer role, Richard is pivotal in managing the integrity of client projects and data. He oversees the Secure Material Access Request (SMAR) process, ensuring stringent control over who accesses sensitive data, and leads the company’s internal annual security audit and the third-party annual SOC 2 Type II audit. His leadership extends to all security-related aspects of our projects, where he ensures that any issues are addressed promptly and effectively.

“Richard’s expertise and proactive approach are vital to our commitment to data security,” said Bill Whitney, President & CEO of BMI. “His ability to adapt to the rapidly evolving technological landscape while maintaining the highest security standards is invaluable to our operations and our clients’ trust in us. We look forward to his continued commitment to security and our company.”
