It is exciting to expand our collaborative efforts beyond the United States.”
Takahashi continues, “BMI demonstrated how tightly the organization has integrated information technology into its document conversion processes. In our opinion, we have entered an era where document conversion labs must integrate IT to increase productivity and deliver the quality control that customers expect.”
JIIMA spent six days in the San Francisco Bay Area, visiting organizations that included Fujitsu / PFU Ltd., ABBYY US Headquarters, Adobe Systems Inc., The City of Palo alto and BMI Imaging System Inc.
BMI Imaging spent two hours with JIIMA. The meeting began with a history of BMI, which began as a microfilming business that would later diversify with custom document scanning and document management solutions for government, healthcare, insurance and education verticals.
BMI staff offered a facility tour, starting with security parameters in place to handle highly confidential client records. The tour went on to highlight document processing and microfilm conversion areas, indexing and quality assurance mechanisms and an on-site vault to store confidential client records.
After the tour, BMI Imaging gave a demonstration of a uniquely developed process control system called Unity that offers a high level dashboard of the entire service bureau workflow. The meeting concluded with an overview of a unique microfilm and microfiche scanning solution developed by the BMI technical team called Digital ReeL.
