San Francisco, California Digital Microfilm Solution

BMI Imaging, located just south of San Francisco, California, has created a unique digital microfilm solution called Digital ReeL. At our secure California facility, our team of experts will scan your microfilm (or microfiche) archives to virtual, digital microfilm rolls. On-site options are available if your records cannot leave your facility for security reasons.

Our digital microfilm scanning service converts the entire microfilm roll or microfiche, creating a virtual representation of each physical microfilm roll or microfiche. The Digital ReeL digital microfilm solution includes an application that emulates microfilm or microfiche retrieval from a reader printer. Users retrieve virtual microfilm rolls from a computer, eliminating legacy, physical microfilm and reader/printers from day-to-day use.

Digital ReeL clients are nationwide – read our case studies.

What Makes Digital ReeL a Unique California Digital Microfilm Scanning Solution?

  • Practical & Affordable: Our digital microfilm scanning method is unique to the industry, enabling us to offer a solution that is often 50% less than other approaches; Digital ReeL is well-suited for infrequently accessed microfilm archives.
  • Digital Microfilm Scanning Accuracy: We convert the entire microfilm roll or microfiche. No images or details are lost, preserving your microfilm and microfiche in a digital state just as they looked in their physical state.
  • Adjustable Grayscale: We include this feature with every deployment; users are able to optimize the quality of tough-to-read images.

Easily Access Records from an Online Viewer that Looks Like a Reader Printer

Digital ReeL leverages your current indexing schema so that users can access records in the same way as they do today. Case number, book and page and roll and frame are example indexing methodologies supported by Digital ReeL. Full-text searching capabilities are also included so that users can search for words, phrases and numbers across the entire digital microfilm archive.
