BMI Imaging Microfilm Conversion Solution, Digital ReeL Version 5.0, is Now Available Nationwide

BMI Imaging Systems, a California microfilm conversion company, is excited to announce Digital ReeL 5.0, offering updates to the web access client, usability enhancements for image optimization and new security features for confidential data

Sunnyvale, California – April 26, 2011 – Document management and microfilm conversion company, BMI Imaging Systems, is excited to announce the launch of Digital ReeL 5.0.

Digital ReeL 5.0 is a microfilm conversion service and a software application. BMI will convert your microfilm to virtual, digital microfilm rolls at one of our secure facilities (optional, on-site option available). BMI’s Digital ReeL microfilm conversion service creates a digital replica of your original microfilm or microfiche. The entire microfilm roll is digitally converted. The Digital ReeL software application emulates microfilm retrieval from a reader printer. Users retrieve virtual microfilm rolls from a PC workstation, avoiding the hassles that come with physical microfilm and legacy reader printers.

Digital ReeL 5.0 is available as an on premise application as well as a hosted service. In both cases, BMI Imaging will perform the microfilm conversion service. As an on premise application, the Digital ReeL application is installed within the customer’s IT environment. Digital ReeL’s hosted option enables organizations to store their virtual microfilm rolls at BMI’s secure data center; users log into a web browser and access their images from the Digital ReeL web interface.

Digital ReeL 5.0 includes new icons on the control bar for deskewing and zooming. Users can also easily view image thumbnails. Users can use these icons along with Digital ReeL’s adjustable grayscale to easily adjust and enhance the quality of each record prior to saving, printing or emailing.

“BMI Imaging is very excited about the launch of Digital ReeL 5.0”, said Bill Whitney, President of the California document management and microfilm conversion company. “Verticals such as government, insurance, energy and more have come to rely on Digital ReeL as a cost effective, practical microfilm conversion solution. This latest release of Digital ReeL makes it easy for organizations to avoid physical microfilm hassles by locating virtual, digital microfilm rolls, optimize the image quality and then save, print or email the desired records.”

About BMI Imaging’s Digital ReeL

Digital ReeL is both a service and a software application. Digital ReeL is a microfilm and microfiche scanning solution that includes a software application specifically designed for microfilm, microfiche and aperture card digital images. The Digital ReeL interface mimics the look of a reader printer. BMI’s Digital ReeL microfilm and microfiche scanning service creates an exact digital replica of each microfilm roll, thereby maintaining the archival integrity of the original microfilming process. Digital ReeL provides a unique grayscale adjustability that enables users to manually adjust the brightness and contrast settings of an image to optimize it prior to printing, emailing or saving as a PDF file. The Digital ReeL application is available as software installed at the organization’s site or can be accessed from a workstation with a web browser. In addition, BMI offers Digital ReeL as a hosted service – users store their digitally converted images with BMI, accessing their images from the Digital ReeL Web interface.
